Behind the scenes of a glamorous new flagship store
This new-build store, located near the centre of the historic city of Chester, is the largest branch of Waitrose in the UK. With an eye-catching bronze metal facade and large footprint, the building is a bit of an attention seeker and already a landmark in the local area.
We were appointed by McLaughlin and Harvey Construction to install the flat roof and high-performance composite cladding for this complex, modern design. With the design acting as a template for future stores, we were challenged to ensure that the roofing and exterior cladding not only made the building secure and watertight, but also as energy-efficient as possible. Located on a key route into the city centre and part of a wider regeneration project, it was important that we completed our work as quickly as possible, minimising disruption to passing traffic. We played our part in ensuring that the new store was completed on time for its prestigious opening ceremony.
