BBC Headquarters, Glasgow

The construction of a new 5 storey digital broadcast centre, which houses all of the BBC facilities in Scotland integrating studios, offices and technical spaces under one Roof (A first for the BBC). The main focal point of the building is the central street with an atrium from ground to roof. Topek incorporated 56 individual rooflight units whilst intricately detailing a Sarnafil single ply roofing system in between each one.

Due to the nature of facilities provided acoustics was a big concern, which we overcame with the specially designed rooflights and a Rockwool acoustic insulation between the Sarnafil membrane and metal deck, whilst waterproofing the heavily laden plant area and timber decked staff terrace on level 05 together with a Kingspan Micro-ribbed Plantroom walls to the entire perimeter of Level 06.
